Today I want to give you all a peek into my travel makeup bag! I did a post on this about 2 years ago so I thought it was time for an update! My husband, baby daughter and I are heading to Italy in a few months so I really needed to sort out my travel makeup too.
I hope you guys get some ideas from what I have packed. I definitely could have packed less, but I feel like this is perfect for the climate in Italy for that time of year (cooler at night and warm in the day).
So let’s jump in!
First up is my brushes and tools. I found this travel brush set at Aldi for about $12. It’s cruelty-free and synthetic, it came with everything but an eye blending brush, but I had a small one from Furless just hanging around so it was the perfect addition. I also refuse to travel without my Face Halo and beauty sponge. This beauty sponge is from Kmart and so is the sponge case, I didn’t even know they made these, how handy!
These are all my foundation/base products. I’ve got the Cover FX Oil-Free Foundation for the warmer days where I want to wear less makeup. The Hourglass Seamless Veil Stick is for more full coverage makeup, same with the Fenty Matchstix. They are great for a quick cream contour and highlight. The star here is the Hourglass Vol 3 Ambient Lighting Palette. It has every face powder I need. Including 2 blush options, a bronzer, a highlight and my favourite Ambient Lighting Powder, Dim Light.
Next is eyes! The Ciaté X Chloe Morello palette is all I could ever need for eyeshadow. It has so many options to get full glam or just to do a natural eye look. I’ve also thrown the Stila Magnificent Metal (shade Diamond Dust) in there to go the extra mile if I need to glam it up. I always need a good liquid liner and the Stila Stay All Day Liner is a winner for me. My travel size Better Than Sex Mascara is always by my side when I travel too. For eyebrows I find the quickest and most long wearing product for me is this e.l.f Brow Pomade in Medium Brown, this stuff lasts all day, and then some! I guess the highlighter pictured could go into the ‘foundation/base’ section but I also like to use it on my eyes. This one is the Too Faced Candlelight Glow. It’s got two halves, one white and one pink and when mixed together it creates a golden colour, perfect for the inner corner.
My lip selection is quite small. A creamy nude lipstick by Too Faced, two liquid lip colours from Stila. A light nude (Baci) and a berry red (Bacca) for a bit more drama. I’ve also got my Too Faced Lip Injection plumping gloss just in case but I could definitely do without it.
Lastly is my skincare! I’ve got my favourite sunscreen, the Mecca Cosmetica To Save Face 50+. I also like to take any sample face washes that I have, I mean it’s the perfect time to use them up. I have my Mario Badescu Vitamin C Serum, Josie Maran Argan Oil and Tarte C-Brighter eye cream for my nightly rituals. Can’t forget my Urban Decay Optical Illusion Primer and All Nighter Setting Spray, essentials of course.
And this all fits neatly into my new travel makeup bag from IKEA! This one was $16 AUD and has lots of little compartments, what a bargain.
I’d love to hear in the comments below what your essential travel items are!
