Hi there! Welcome to new followers and old, and a big thank you for your patience. As you may know I’ve been MIA on this blog for the last year or so but today I decided to start the old machine up again! Partly because I am always eager to learn about makeup and techniques but also mostly because I really like blabbing about my favourite makeup products to anyone that will listen!
So to get re-acquainted I am going to do a quick de-brief of my favourite and most used products that I have gathered over the last year or so. As always feel free to leave any comments or questions below.
Firstly I’m going to start with my big 3, my new personal discoveries that have changed my makeup game forever!
1. Too Faced Born This Way Foundation in Vanilla – This foundation is so smooth and flawless that I could use it forever. It is easy to blend onto the skin for medium or full coverage; it has a beautiful soft finish and is totally workable depending on how you like your foundation to look.
2. Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in Fair – This small concealer blends so well with the Born This Way Foundation, they are a match made in the heavens. I personally love it because it deals with my dark under eye circles and red spots without being really heavy. I’ve found you can also use it before or after foundation application. I use small amounts before foundation to cover any red spots and then use larger amounts after foundation to highlight and add depth to my look.
3. Too Faced Lashgasm Mascara – I found this gem while searching for mascara that didn’t clump or have a fluffy type brush. This was mostly because I already have longish eyelashes; I just needed something with a bit of extra colour and width. And this stuff is truly amazing, its waterproof and also I find it very clump proof. It goes on effortlessly and if you want more oomph you can wait for the first coat to dry then add some more with no issues.
Some of my other notable and well used products include the following;
Kat Von D Ink liner in Trooper – likes: it’s waterproof, the pen tip is soft and doesn’t contain hairs plus it’s the perfect length. Dislikes: it takes a bit of getting used to application wise and is also hard to do really close to the mirror because the actual pen is pretty long.
Illamasqua Sculpting Palette – likes: the shade Cirrus is great for highlighting and all shades have an amazing buttery texture. I also appreciate the inclusion of a grey colour (Nimbus) to create depth no matter the skin tone. Dislikes: The sparkly highlighter Rush is rather chunky and contains very big glitter bits, personally it’s a bit too much for me. Also the dark tones at the end of the palette (Steal and Create) are a little to red for my liking especially for a face palette, I maybe could use them for eye shadow though.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Exposure – likes: this stuff is easy to blend and has a great consistency. It goes on light and is not to pink but is also easy to build up if you wanted more colour. Dislikes: none!
Illamasqua Hydra Veil Primer – likes: a little bit of product goes a long way; it includes an easy to use spatula for more hygienic use. It never feels heavy and really helps the makeup’s staying power. Dislikes: none so far.
Urban Decay Flushed in Strip – likes: it’s a 3 in 1 compact, with highlighter blush and bronzer. This shade (blush in particular) was great for my skin tone. The bronzer could be used for contouring without too much issue. Dislikes: I thought the bronzer was a little too far on the shimmery side personally, and as time went on the blush got harder and harder to get out with a brush, it kind of formed a skin over the top which eventually made it really annoying to use.
And the last 2 products are my favourite eyeshadow palettes of the last year. I will be getting around to doing full reviews of these two palettes but for now I’ll just let you in on the basics and some of my best combos!
First the Urban Decay and Gwen Stefani collaboration: I like that this palette has a lot of matte shadows as well as glitter ones. My favourite and most used colours are Anaheim, Stark, Zone, Punk and Blonde. And my fave combo is Stark and Zone all over the lid then Punk and Blackout to cut the crease and Baby right in the middle and corner of the eyes to make it all pop.
Secondly is the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette: this smells AMAZING! My fave colours include Salted Caramel, Crème Brulee, Milk Chocolate and Triple Fudge. With my most used combo being Salted Caramel, Marzipan, Semi-Sweet, Triple Fudge and Champagne Truffle on the brow bone.
So there you have it my best and most used products of the last year! These are all I use to achieve my day-to-day look and to do a little something extra bold on weekends. Keep your eyes peeled for longer and more in-depth reviews of my products and maybe a video tutorial in the coming weeks.
Thanks for stopping by!
