Welcome to the NEW YEAR! I hope everyone had a great break over the holidays. Let’s get ready to make 2017 a year to remember! Meggie Moo blog will be getting a revamp very soon, so keep an eye out for that. And also a change in the direction of content as I start to pursue my own freelance makeup career. As always I will still be bringing the goods to my blog, reviews, swatches, hauls and everything in between. So let’s get started, I have a few reviews I need to get off my chest as a fresh start to the year, so keep reading to check them out!
Let’s start with a product I chatted about last week, the Cover FX Oil Free Natural Finish Foundation. Now this retails for around $55 for 30ml. Just for comparison the Born This Way Foundation by Too Faced is $57 also for 30ml. Both products are vegan and cruelty free but Too Faced now has been acquired by Estée Lauder (evil parent company). Personally to me that makes minimal difference as I still choose to use cosmetics that are owned by a parent company. Each to their own though!
Back to the review, the coverage is definitely not full, I would call it a light to medium (pic above for reference). This is fine for everyday wear but wouldn’t be my first go to product for night or glam looks. After a while the foundation gets sheer on my combo skin even after being set with powder and using a primer. In saying that I do like this product overall, the colour N30 is a perfect colour for me and blends perfectly into the skin. It really looks like I’m wearing no foundation and provides an even skin tone. It feels lightweight and soft too. The colour range for the Cover FX foundations is a lot larger compared to the Born This Way range. I’m giving this product 4 out of 5 stars overall.
Next is a skincare product (I’ve been using a lot of them lately), by Nip + Fab. It’s the Dragons Blood Fix Plumping Mask. I got this usually expensive item from Priceline for half price (winning). Anyways, after trying this once I am so keen to use it again! There was noticeably instant visible differences from just one use. I was super impressed by the results after just 10 mins on! I have a comparison picture below to show you guys.
This product is vegan which is a plus and has hyaluronic acid (for hydration and plumping), amino acid (for brightening) and dragons blood (rare red serum or sap from an Amazonian Croton Lechleri tree, known for its rejuvenating qualities). I am super keen to also use this as an intensive night mask to see if the results vary and are better! This one gets 5/5 stars.
Onto some more skincare, introducing the Clean Skin Gentle Cleanser by This Works. The product is exactly what it sounds like, a gentle cleanser. I use it morning and night to remove oil and to provide a clean base for whatever I’m putting on my skin, whether that be moisturiser or a serum.
It is so refreshing and leaves the skin soft and clean but never tight or sticky. There is no stinging when this gets in my eyes either (not that I make that a habit). It also smells amazing! I even got my husband to try some to remove some excess oil off his face and he liked it too! This product gets 5/5 stars, it’s something I can see myself repurchasing again for sure!
And that’s a wrap for this week people! I really am enjoying all of these skincare products, so if you have any questions about them please feel free to comment!!
Happy New Year!
